When transmitting torque by coupling with flat spring packages, the latter experience not only bending but also tangential stresses from their twisting, which increases the overall stress state and reduces durability. The design of the coupling is proposed, in which the tips of the packages are installed in a half coupling on rolling bearings, which completely frees the flat springs from twisting, thereby increasing the durability and increasing the efficiency of the coupling.

The design of the coupling is considered in detail, its possibilities for connecting misaligned shafts are indicated. The interaction of the spring turns with the teeth of the half-couplings is considered in detail. A scheme of deformation (exaggerated) of the coils during the transmission of torque is proposed, according to which a calculation model is selected to determine the torsional rigidity of the coupling and the strength of the coils. It is shown that during the operation of the coupling, the coils of the spring not only bend, but also twist, increasing the stiffness, while their strength is estimated by an equivalent voltage. Misalignment of the connected shafts, as well as an increase in the gap between the coupling halves, leads to a decrease in torsional rigidity and an increase in stresses in the spring turns.

One of the ways to reduce dynamic loads in machine drives is the use of couplings with low torsional stiffness. When the torque is transmitted by the coupling, the elastic elements deform, increasing the time of energy transfer from one coupling half to another, thereby reducing dynamic loads. The lower the stiffness of the coupling, the less dynamic loads. If a coupling with serpentine springs is used to reduce stiffness, instead of a single spring, a package of such springs should be used, the cross-sectional dimensions of which are the same as the cross-section of a single spring. In this case, the stiffness will decrease in comparison with a single spring by a number of times equal to the number of springs of the package raised to the second power.
