Sensor nodes are generally placed in areas that are inaccessible. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are designed to efficiently collect data from sensor nodes and forward it to sinks. Many technological obstacles must be overcome before WSN can be implemented and used effectively. Battery life and signal range are two factors causing many of these technological hurdles. Batteries are the primary source of power for WSNs due to their primary functions, which include sensing, computing, and multi-hop communication. It is crucial for WSNs to maintain the vitality of their sensor nodes. For WSNs to last longer, energy-efficient cluster-based routing protocols are required. This paper proposes an improved angle-based path clustering (IABPC) approach that uses parameters such as residual energy and angle to select the Channel Head and Gateway nodes. The performances of proposed IABPC protocol are evaluated by comparing residual energy, lifetime, packet delivery ratio, energy efficiency, and end-to-end delay with existing protocol Adaptive Routing Protocol with Energy Efficiency (ARPEES) and Event Clustering an Scalable Energy Efficient Clustering Hierarchy protocols (SEECH) respectively. In comparison to ARPEES and SEECH protocols, IABPC protocol achieved higher residual energy and lifetime by 13.1% and 6.1%, a packet delivery ratio of 12.7% and 7%, greater energy efficiency of 13.3% and 7.6% than ARPEES and SEECH protocols, and an increased packet delivery ratio of 13.4%. Several regions are created in the proposed protocol to extend the network lifetime.

A mobile Ad Hoc network (MANET) is a dynamic wireless network developed using wireless nodes without using any infrastructures. The wireless nature of mobile networks causes several challenges in secured communication which makes it susceptible to malicious attacks. Therefore, security is a very essential factor in facilitating a secured message transmission among mobile nodes in the wireless medium. The energy and trust aware -multi objective african vultures optimization (ETA-MAVO) method is used in this paper to provide high security for the data packets, thereby preventing malicious attacks. Using the ETA-MAVO algorithm, the network nodes' energy efficiency and trust value are calculated. For choosing the best cluster heads (CHs), ETA-MAVO considers fitness functions, namely: trust value, energy ratio, communication cost, the total number of gateway hops, and network load. To discover malicious nodes in the network and minimize packet loss, the trust value of a node is calculated from its neighbours. Because of trust value, updating routing information is simpler and increases network throughput. The results obtained from the simulation show that the proposed ETA-MAVO achieved better performance with respect to parameters such as delay, energy consumption, throughput, and detection rate when compared with the existing cat slap single-play algorithm (C-SSA) and data-driven zone based routing protocol (DD-ZRP), angular based energy proficient trusted routing (ACEPTR) protocol and aquila optimizer (AO) and puzzle optimization algorithm (POA). The proposed method achieved a detection rate of 93% while the existing C-SSA, DD-ZRP, ACEPTR, AO and POA achieved a detection rate of 90%, 68%, 72%, 91% and 90% respectively.

MANET is a mobile ad hoc network with many mobile nodes communicating without a centralized module. Infrastructure-less networks make it desirable for many researchers to publish and bind multimedia services. Each node in this infrastructure-less network acts as self-organizing and re-configurable. It allows services to deploy and attain from another node over the ad hoc network. The service composition aims to provide a user’s requirement by combining different atomic services based on non-functional QoS parameters such as reliability, availability, scalability, etc. To provide service composition in MANET is challenging because of the node mobility, link failure, and topology changes, so a traditional protocol will be sufficient to obtain real-time services from mobile nodes. In this paper, the ad hoc on-demand distance vector protocol (AODV) is used and analyzed based on MANET’s QoS (Quality of Service) metrics. The QoS metrics for MANET depends on delay, bandwidth, memory capacity, network load, and packet drop. The requester node and provider node broker acts as a composer for this MANET network. The authors propose a QoS-based Dynamic Secured Broker Selection architecture (QoSDSBS) for service composition in MANET, which uses a dynamic broker and provides a secure path selection based on QoS metrics. The proposed algorithm is simulated using Network Simulator (NS2) with 53 intermediate nodes and 35 mobile nodes of area 1000 m × 1000 m. The comparative results show that the proposed architecture outperforms, with standards, the AODV protocol and affords higher scalability and a reduced network load.
