Cloud-based sustainable management of electrical and electronic equipment from production to end-of-life

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe a system and a database structure for the tracing of the waste of electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) using radio-frequency identification tags. Design/methodology/approach The problems related to the management of WEEE and the international directives have been presented and analyzed. The authors propose a traceability system to extend the tracing in the reverse logistics. Findings The proposed systems allow a more efficient management of the reuse, re… Show more

“…By implementing techniques of Industry 4.0, flexibility of the system can be enhanced. Cloud system and big data concept can be used for monitoring as well as predicting the machine condition (Conti and Orcioni, 2019). Augmented reality (AR) can be used for enhancing the maintenance activity (Masoni et al , 2017).…”

“…In addition, due to the complexity, diversity and dynamics of waste sources, big data is a promising research approach, mainly, in the formation of information banks of materials for the practice of IS (SONG et al, 2017). Conti and Orcioni (2019) there are many possibilities to study the positive impacts of big data, such as the use of data in product traceability for the execution of reverse logistics.…”
