“…Proem is a wearable computer-based system that supports profile-based cooperation [11]. Wearers can write simple rules that indicate their interests in other people.…”
Abstract. Current tools do not provide adequate support to users for handling reminders. The main reason for this is the lack of use of rich context that specifies when a reminder should be presented to its recipient. We describe CybreMinder, a prototype context-aware tool that supports users in sending and receiving reminders that can be associated to richly described situations involving time, place and more sophisticated pieces of context. These situations better define when reminders should be delivered, enhancing our ability to deal with them more effectively. We describe how the tool is used and how it was developed using our previously developed Context Toolkit infrastructure for contextaware computing.

“…Eagle and Pentland used the Bluetooth radio functionality in mobile phones to recognize activity patterns, infer social relationships and model organizational rhythms [10]. Alternative methods of tracking co-location for social groups that have been used in the past include infra-red (IR) beacons to capture face-to-face interactions, short-range radios (same room or office) or GPS location-based services [17,20,24]. Gips and Pentland [14] used infra-red tags, voice features, and body motion to predict when people would exchange business cards or ask for project-related information.…”
“…Wireless connectivity is achieved through a Metricom wireless modem or a Lucent WaveLAN adapter. The hardware is described in more detail in [1,2,9,10].…”

“…Proem [9], a system developed at our lab, is the precursor to the work described in this paper. Proem is based on the notion of personal profiles, which are exchanged whenever two or more wearable users encounter each other.…”

“…Most of them are wearable videoconference systems [1,2,3,4,8,10,12,17], while others aim at establishing personal relationships between users [5]. For example, our own Proem system [9] enables two or more users to exchange personal user profiles in real-time during face-to-face encounters with the goal to identify shared interests.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
