Cloning and Heterologous Expression of Isocyanide Biosynthetic Genes from Environmental DNA

Abstract: Ein einzelnes Gen, isnA, codiert für das Enzym, das die Aminfunktionalität von Tryptophan in die Isocyanideinheit überführt. Damit erklärt sich die Herkunft des Stickstoffatoms im Antibiotikum 1. Dessen Isolierung und Charakterisierung, seine Biosynthesegene (isnA und isnB) und der prinzipielle Biosyntheseweg über das Intermediat 2 werden vorgestellt (siehe Schema).
