“…The promoter sequences of five genes, CsC4H, Cs4CL, CsCHS, CsLAR , and CsANR2 , were isolated from tea plants using a reported genome-walker protocol (Vineet Kumar et al, 2014). The length of 1–2 kb nucleotides in the upstream of the coding region of these genes were cloned from leaves.…”

“…Primer pairs (Supplementary Table S1) were designed to amplify 1 kb nucleotides from the immediate upstream of these gene coding regions. The Genome-walker kit (Takara, Dalian, China) (Vineet Kumar et al, 2014) was used to isolate these promoter fragments according to the manufacturer’s protocol. The resulting DNA fragments were cloned into the PMD19-T plasmid (Takara, Dalian, China) by following the manufacturer’s protocol.…”

“…Furthermore, some proteins such as sieve element occlusion 1 (SEO1), SEO2, and SEO3 are located in the phloem and reported to prevent efficiently aphid feeding in M. truncatula ( Will et al , 2013 ). The SEO genes can be up-regulated by dehydration and artificial ABA treatment in the legume Pisum sativum ( Srivastava et al , 2014 ). Our results indicate that up-regulation of the JA signaling pathway and other defensive metabolites may increase the phloem defense during aphid penetration under drought conditions.…”

“…In the past few years, great progress has been done on the identification and evaluation of plant-derived tissue-specific and stress-inducible promoters. [19][20][21] But very few promoters conferring trichome-specific or preferential expression which include promoters of Arabidopsis OASA1 and AtTSG1, 22,23 lipid transfer protein genes of cotton and tobacco, [24][25][26] and tobacco CYP71D16, 27 have been isolated and characterized in plants. Promoter of A. annua ADS gene was found to drive expression in the anthers and trichomes of Arabidopsis juvenile leaves, 28 while exclusively in stalk and secretory cells of A. annua glandular trichomes.…”
