Clinicopathologic characteristics and oncologic outcomes in adenosarcoma of gynecologic sites

Abstract: Highlights Uterine adenosarcoma appears to have relatively good prognosis, especially in the absence of high-risk factors. Lymphadenectomy and adjuvant therapy have an unclear benefit for Mullerian adenosarcoma. Ovarian preservation can be considered in premenopausal patients with presumed uterine-confined disease.

“…Because ER/PR expression is lower in tumors with sarcomatous overgrowth, the application of hormonal therapy should be limited. Although some studies have suggested that hormone therapy should be considered if ER/PR is positive, there is still a lack of clinical and research-based evidence for hormone therapy in treating adenosarcoma [ 38 , 39 ].…”

“…The age of onset of UA ranges from 10 to 94 years (median age, above 50 years) [ 7 ] and is more common in postmenopausal women. Overall, UA has a better prognosis than other uterine sarcomas and carcinosarcomas [ 8 , 9 ]. However, Heveder et al [ 10 12 ] suggested a 50% reduction in survival in UA patients with adverse prognostic factors.…”
