“…Introduction: Although in elderly people renal function may be impaired, little is known about the prevalence of renal impairment in nursing home residents. Percentages between 44 and 91 of renal dysfunction have been reported (Papaioannou, et al 2001;Nygaard, et al 2004), while on a geriatric ward in a hospital in 80% of the patients the creatinine clearance was found to be less than 60 ml/min (Martin, et al 2005).
