Clinical Tests of the Shoulder

Abstract: Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder that has a significant impact on the patient’s quality of life and functional health. Because the shoulder joint is a complex structure, the relevant symptoms of shoulder pain may not directly reflect the underlying pathology. Hence, several shoulder tests have been developed to examine shoulder problems, and their diagnostic accuracy varies. Familiarization with the performance of those physical tests and their strength and limitation are of utmost importance… Show more

“…During dynamic scanning, it is possible to visualize the gliding of the subscapularis muscle-tendon unit under the coracoid process and coracoid muscles (e.g., the short head of the biceps brachii muscle and coracobrachialis muscle; Video 1, http://links.lww.com/PHM/ B545). 2,3 Clinical Indications Anterior Shoulder Impingement Mechanical conflict may develop among different anterior components of the shoulder, that is, subscapularis muscle-tendon unit, coracoid bone/coracoid muscles, and the humeral head. The clinical spectrum might encompass several conditions like tendinosis/tears (Video 2, http://links.lww.…”

“…[ 10 ] With the help of dynamic ultrasonography, the moment of the supraspinatus and SASD could be observed while passing underneath the acromion during arm abduction in real-time. [ 11 ] Corticosteroid injection along with dynamic sonography is used for improvement in the diagnosis of shoulder impingement syndrome. [ 12 ] No other imaging modality can evaluate structure in real-time during a physiologic moment.…”
