Clinical relevance of intestinal peptide uptake

Abstract: AIM:To determine available information on an independent peptide transporter 1 (PepT1) and its potential relevance to treatment, this evaluation was completed. METHODS:Fully published English language literature articles sourced through PubMed related to protein digestion and absorption, specifically human peptide and amino acid transport, were accessed and reviewed. Papers from 1970 to the present, with particular emphasis on the past decade, were examined. In addition, abstracted information translated to En… Show more

“…A standard deviation of ±10% was entered for the values of heights. Expression level of transporter: Lisinopril is a substrate for the efflux peptide transporter-1, which is maximally expressed in duodenum and jejunum and less in ileum and colon present at the brush border of the small intestine [ 43 ]. Taking the above into account, for the creation of population, the expressed level of the transporter was taken as 100% in the PK-Sim data base.…”

“…The PepT1 transporter is located in the microvillus membrane and has a wellestablished role as a transporter for di-and tri-peptides. Dietary intake and amino acid composition of the dietary protein increases the expression of PepT1 [52] . Primarily, expression of PepT1 is prevalent in the small intestine, but limited in the colon.…”
