Questions regarding the various types of temperature control equipment and methods are frequently posed to the authors of this column. Physicians and nurses in clinical practice evaluate the various methods of temperature modulation and choose the best methodology for their population and institution. The purpose of this issue's column is to present an overview of a variety of cooling methodologies focusing on the method of cooling, the positive aspects and challenges associated with the particular method, and any other relevant information.
