Clinical Profile, Treatment, and Prognosis of Left Ventricular Thrombus in Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Abstract: Despite the emerging prevalence of left ventricular (LV) thrombus in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), clinical characteristics, management, and disease prognosis are poorly studied. We aim to assess the efficacy/safety profile of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) compared to warfarin by evaluating thrombus evolution, risk for stroke and systemic embolism (SSE), heart failure (HF) rehospitalization, all-cause mortality, and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), and determine the impact of thrombus evolutio… Show more

“…A subgroup analysis of seven studies [ 25 , 29 , 35 , 41 , 46 , 47 ] investigating the effect of DOACs with warfarin in patients after MI favored DOACs for LVT resolution (OR: 1.70, 95% CI: 0.94–3.07, p: 0.08). Similarly, two studies evaluated the effect of DOACs in patients with HF [ 42 ] and DCM [ 26 ]. The rates of LVT resolution were comparable between the groups but did not reach statistical significance.…”
