Abstract: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is preceded by asymptomatic changes in the geometry of the heart. The only symptoms of the beginning of cardiac remodeling and concomitant predictors of an unfavorable cardiovascular prognosis are: thickening of epicardial fat (EAT), secreting a number of adipokines, and cardiospecific miRNAs.
