Clinical Guidelines for Hwabyung IV. (Medications & Acupuncture and Moxibustion)

Abstract: Objectives :The Hwabyung Research Center of The Korean Society Of Oriental Neuropsychiatry has attempted to develop the 'Clinical Guidelines for Hwabyung'. Methods :The Hwabyung Research Center constructed a committee of experts and advisory group. “…In previous studies, mainly Saam acupuncture using four acupoints was used in four clinical trials for relieving Hwa-byung symptoms (Lee et al, 2007;Jung et al, 2008;Choi et al, 2011Choi et al, , 2015, and scalp acupuncture was used in one trial for relieving insomnia in patients with Hwa-byung (Lee et al, 2012a). In clinical practice, manual acupuncture using 10-20 acupoints is commonly used (Lee et al, 2009), but the effect of individualized manual acupuncture treatment for Hwa-byung has not been tested.
