“…Control groups are important for contextualising symptoms. For example, in a study of long COVID among children and adolescents (aged <21 years) in the USA, Rao and colleagues 39 found that 41·9% of patients with a history of COVID-19 reported at least one symptom of post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection, as did 38·2% of a control group without a history of COVID-19. Although no pre-myocarditis measures were available for our group of patients with myocarditis, we found that quality of life measures among those with COVID-19 vaccine-associated myocarditis at follow-up were similar to or better than those of contemporary populations studied before or early in the pandemic.…”
