Clinical efficacy of paiteling in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum infected with different subtypes of HPV

Abstract: Condyloma acuminatum (CA) is a type of mucosal benign hyperplasia skin disease that is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which mainly occurs in the genitalia and anus. The aim of the present study was to explore the clinical efficacy underlying the traditional Chinese medicine paiteling in the treatment of CA via the detection of HPV. One hundred CA patients were enrolled in the current study and were externally treated with paiteling for 5 weeks. HPV subtypes were examined both before the treatm… Show more

“…The level of CD8+ in the study group was lower than that in the control group (34.81 ± 2.34%). Related studies have shown that the levels of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ in peripheral hematoma of patients with condyloma acuminatum in the anal canal are significantly lower than those without recurrence, indicating that there is a significant correlation between the recurrence rate of patients with condyloma acuminatum in the anal canal and their own immune level [ 27 ]. The determination of the levels of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ in patients with CA in the anal canal is of great clinical significance to evaluate the prognosis and observe the curative effect.…”

“…Screening for other sexually transmitted infections is essential. Due to its rarity, consensus on management and treatment is challenging and many treatment options are mentioned in literature, such as podophyllin, 5-fluorouracil, methotrexate, bleomycin, interferon, oral retinoid therapy and even paiteling 2 9 12–14. Minimally-invasive techniques (cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, CO2 laser ablation, electrosurgery or curettage) and radiotherapy may also be used in some smaller lesions 2 9 14.…”

“…Recently, there has been interest in traditional Chinese medicine paiteling in the treatment of CCA and HPV infection; Hu et al described the efficacy of the traditional Chinese medicine paiteling in the treatment of CCA, in 100 patients with a standardized treatment scheme, without controls, and posttreatment follow-up, and a cure of 92% of the sample and recurrence was reported of 8% at 6 months of treatment [ 26 ]. Shu et al to implement it in a 67-year-old man with AGC on the penis who refused penectomy treatment show a total response without showing recurrence at 3 months of follow-up [ 27 ].…”
