“…Probiotics can outcompete pathogenic bacteria and increase the proportion of beneficial bacteria in the mouth thereby contributing for the prevention and therapy of oral diseases [4][5][6]. In order to be effective in the oral cavity, probiotics must support oral environmental conditions, adhere to and colonize oral surfaces, inhibit oral pathogens [7,8], and/or delay colonization by pathogenic strains [5].
