Clinical Considerations When Introducing Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 Inhibition in Patients With Heart Failure

Abstract: Background: In patients with heart failure (HF), discontinued medical therapy because of adverse events (AE) is associated with high mortality. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treated with sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have a lower risk of HF, but AE sometimes occur with the introduction of SGLT2i.
