Clinical Comparison of the Subepithelial Connective Tissue versus Platelet-Rich Fibrin for the Multiple Gingival Recession Coverage on Anterior Teeth Using the Tunneling Technique

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare, clinically, the efficiency of the subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) using the tunnel technique to cover the multiple gingival recessions on anterior teeth, in the same patient. Within the limits of this study, we conclude that both SCTG and L-PRF proved to be reliable options for the treatment of gingival recessions, efficiently supporting the biological and aesthetic demand, stimulating the periodontal tissues' heal… Show more

“…In a case report recently published, a patient with multiple Miller Class II gingival recessions on the vestibular face of the upper and lower teeth was treated with leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)+tunnel technique (TT) on his right region and with SCTG+TT on his left region 16 . Four tubes of blood samples (4*10 ml venous blood) were used to treat multiple gingival recession that contains the tooth numbering 11-12-13-14 and SCTG technique with TT to treat the teeth numbered at 21-22-23-24.…”

“…Four tubes of blood samples (4*10 ml venous blood) were used to treat multiple gingival recession that contains the tooth numbering 11-12-13-14 and SCTG technique with TT to treat the teeth numbered at 21-22-23-24. Pazmiño, et al 16 (2017) stated that they chose the TT technique because of the versatility, predictability of success and the little keratinized gingiva. However, CAF technique was used in our study because of the adequate KTT on the apical part of the recessions.…”

“…The use of CTG for the resolution of the IDP loss and the increasing the IDP-height is based on its excellent biomimetic capacity, highlighting the induction potential of two fundamental characteristics. [ 32 ] CTG beneath the IDP reported adequate thickening of the existing gingiva and successful reconstruction of IDP. [ 4 ] Increase bulk and thickness of interdental gingiva can induce “creeping” papillary formation.…”

“…Results of our treatment procedure were in accordance with the results of studies conducted by Pazmiño et al . [ 19 ] and Gupta et al . [ 20 ] and promoted the coverage of the recession irt 11, 13, 21, 22, and 23 with PRF membrane.…”
