Clinical characteristics of eperisone-induced immediate-type hypersensitivity

Abstract: Background: Eperisone is a commonly prescribed oral muscle relaxant, but few studies have been conducted of eperisone-induced hypersensitivity reactions. Objective:The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical manifestations of eperisone-induced immediate-type hypersensitivity, and to evaluate the role of an intradermal test (IDT) in eperisone-induced anaphylaxis. Methods: This study was based on a retrospective review of medical records from 23 patients diagnosed as eperisone-induced immediate-type… Show more

“…[ 42 ] The increased risk observed from tolperisone, but not from eperisone, was unexpected because eperisone is one of the most widely used muscle relaxants, and anaphylaxis induced by eperisone was reported several times in Korea. [ 43 45 ] However, eperisone did not show increased medication risk in drug anaphylaxis. This result is likely due to the difference in the frequency of prescriptions between eperisone and tolperisone.…”
