Ingrown toenail is a disease of both children and adults, causing discomfort or pain of varying degrees of severity. 1 Ingrown toenail is characterized by a sharp irregular nail edge due to improper trimming, which significantly detriments the quality of life. The course of the disease is usually chronic, and it affects mainly the big toe. 2 Ingrown nail is categorized in three stages based on pain, erythema, infection, drainage, and the presence of granulation tissue. 3 Diagnosis of ingrown toenail is evident, but the patients generally may not understand the pathogenesis, who usually try to cut or remove the ingrown part of the nail themselves. Here, we first use dermoscopy and high-frequency ultrasonography to evaluate grade 3 ingrown toenail.
