Abstract:This study suggests that younger age at diagnosis, complicated disease behavior, and ileal disease location are risk factors for perianal CD. In addition, this paper represents the first report of an association of the NCF4 gene with perianal disease.
“…This approach has also already allowed meaningful investigation of the factors predisposing to PCD in this cohort. 23 The challenge for future research remains to better define both these factors and those governing response to emerging medical and surgical therapies for PCD.…”

“…1,2 Treatment of perianal lesions has long been dismaying, with high rates of recurrence and proctectomy in adult population-based studies before the era of biologic therapies. 3 Infliximab (IFX) was the first anti-TNF agent to show efficacy in fistula closure.…”
“…This NOD2/CARD15 variant is generally investigated in Crohn's disease [22][23][24] but has also been studied in some cancer types [5,18]. Forrest et al reported that the p.Leu1007fsX1008 polymorphism may influence the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma by altering host immune responsiveness to microbial agents [18].…”
According to our data, the rs5743336 variant of the NOD1/CARD4 gene may influence the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, whereas the rs2066847 variant of the NOD2/CARD15 gene is not associated with lung cancer risk in the Turkish population.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
