Climate change, global population growth, and humanoid robots

Abstract: According to the 2015 Paris Agreement, signatories were to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2050. However, it is more likely that global warming will rise above 1.5°C by 2050 and 2.0°C by 2100. The primary driver of climate change is population growth. 7.7 billion people live on the planet with projections of 11 billion by 2100. Accordingly, developed countries like the US, which disproportionately generate the CO2 causing climate change, need to reduce population; however, the U.S.… Show more

“…For example, the melting of permafrost in Greenland could release viruses that have been dormant and unknown to humanity for thousands of years. Furthermore, the progressive deforestation of rainforests, such as the Amazon rainforest, could also favor the emergence of new zoonoses or other endemic or pandemic viruses [55][56][57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68].…”

“…Agriculture is the basis of and very important to human survival. At present, the total global population exceeds 7.5 billion and is expected to reach 11 billion by 2100 [1]. By the end of 2020, at least 83 million people existed and possibly as many as 132 million were hungry.…”

“…This situation arises as more energy resources are required to meet the needs of the world's growing global population (Rodionova et al 2017). The current global population is 7.7 billion people, with a potential increase up to 11 billion by 2100 (McBride 2021).…”
