“…OCCC represent about 5–10% of all ovarian malignancies in Western populations and up to 25% of all ovarian carcinomas in East Asian populations. Compared with the more common serous carcinomas of the ovary, OCCC affect younger women (mean age 50–55), present at an earlier stage (frequently stage I), are frequently unilateral, are associated with endometriosis and may be complicated by thromboembolic manifestations and paraneoplastic hypercalcemia . OCCC were first described in 1939 by Dr. Walter Schiller, under the name Mesonephroma ovarii , since he believed that they are of mesonephric (Wolffian) rather than Müllerian derivation.…”
