Classroom management involves all endeavors aimed at establishing an efficient and pleasant teaching and learning environment that can inspire learners to learn effectively based on their abilities. It encompasses a range of intentional activities conducted by lecturers with the goal of establishing and sustaining optimal conditions for the teaching and learning process. This research investigates practical management strategies for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) speaking class. Semi-structured interviews and active classroom observation were employed to collect the data. Three EFL lecturers from the English Department of Universitas Darussalam Gontor who provided English speaking classes participated in this study. The objective was to look into the lecturers' viewpoints and management of speaking classes and to examine the strategies they employed and the challenges they experienced. The findings show that the lecturers had implemented a variety of strategies, including setting discipline, physical environment, encouraging more usage of English, offering engaging topics, speaking correction techniques, and building excitement for content. The results also revealed that the lecturers encountered difficulties to manage their teaching. Challenges such as improper pronunciation, learners' low self-esteem, and shortage of lexical resources were among the lecturers’ obstacles.

The ClassMaps strategy builds resilience into classrooms by translating the compelling results of developmental risk and resilience research into simple action plans that embed positive protective supports into classroom routines and practices. The refined routines reinforce students’ developing self-agency and foster their nurturing relationships with adults and peers. The strategy is carried out in four stages—administering the ClassMaps Survey to describe students’ experiences of classroom strengths and weaknesses, conducting a classroom meeting with students to scrutinize the results and brainstorm plans for change, implementing simple modifications to classroom routines and practices based on that plan, and evaluating the impact of the modifications a few weeks later. The ClassMaps Survey’s central role in the strategy is justified by the reliability of its subscales and their relation to the key protective supports identified in resilience research. The ClassMaps strategy is a useful example of ‘giving psychology away’.

<p><em>The article is devoted to the problem of studying and evaluating the psychological climate in the class. It presents the results of a study on class climate variability in secondary school grades and the relationship of the peculiarities of its perception with the perfectionism of adolescents. Total of 167 students from four parallel 5th and three 7th grades aged 11-14 years participated in the study. The questionnaire “Climate in the class” (N.B. Shumakova, E.I. Shcheblanova, M.G. Sorokova, 2023) and a three-factor version of the perfectionism questionnaire (N.G. Garanyan, A.B. Kholmogorova, 2018) were used. The results show the significant variability of climate indicators in the parallels of 5th and 7th grades of the same school, which indicates the uniqueness of the learning environment created by the teacher. Perfectionism of adolescents is associated with their perception of teacher support and rivalry with classmates. The data obtained are important for interpreting the results of climate diagnostics in the class in the practical activity of psychologists.</em></p>
