Classical and quantum behavior of the generic cosmological solution

Abstract: Abstract. In the present paper we generalize the original work of C.W. Misner [1] about the quantum dynamics of the Bianchi type IX geometry near the cosmological singularity. We extend the analysis to the generic inhomogeneous universe by solving the super-momentum constraint and outlining the dynamical decoupling of spatial points. Firstly, we discuss the classical evolution of the model in terms of the Hamilton-Jacobi approach as applied to the super-momentum and super-Hamiltonian constraints; then we quant… Show more

“…Such a logarithmic behavior confirms, also in the polymer framework, the estimate provided in [53]. It is well-known [44] that, in the standard picture and in the limit V → 0, the terms exp(β a + β b ) with a = b are negligible with respect to exp(2β a ) where the potential is relevant. Thus, in the polymer framework, they are negligible if the condition V ≪ 1 is satisfied.…”

“…The first attempt to implement the canonical quantum gravity approach developed in [1][2][3] to the cosmological setting was due to the analysis proposed in [54], where the Bianchi IX Universe was studied within certain approximations, and the most relevant properties of its quantum dynamics were elucidated (for extensions of this approach to generic inhomogeneous models, see [55][56][57][58][59][60][61][62], and for a refined numerical study of the Bianchi IX quantization, see [63]).…”

“…The quantum dynamics of the Bianchi type IX geometry in the vicinity of the singularity was examined by Misner [2] back in 1969; later on, it was examined by other authors (for example, see [3] or [4]) who complemented and expanded his approach.…”
