Abstract:Chronic pancreatitis is a persistent fibroinflammatory disease of the pancreas, more common in smokers or alcoholics. Genetic predisposition with mutations in various genes has also been documented. It typically presents with recurrent abdominal pain and endocrine and exocrine dysfunction, potentially progressing to pancreatic cancer and severe complications in later stages.
