Citrus decline with complex symptoms was recently observed in Kerman province, reducing the annual yield of citrus fruits. Agents that cause citrus decline include fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, and abiotic factors. One of the most important symptoms of citrus decline is branch dieback. In this study, the fungal agent responsible for dieback was identified. To achieve this goal, sampling was conducted in citrus orchards with symptoms of twig dieback and twig canker in the summer of 2020. Samples were collected from different areas of the citrus growing region of Kerman province, including Bam, Rigan, Narmashir, Fahraj, Shahdad, and Orzueeh. Fungi were isolated from diseased branches on nutrient culture medium. The resulting fungi were identified using morphological characteristics. The following fungi were isolated from diseased plants: Alternaria spp., Nattrassia mangiferae, Ulocladium spp., Bipolaris spp., Fusarium spp., Phoma sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Paecilomyces spp., Chaetomium spp., Acremonium spp., Stemphylium sp., and Cladosporium spp. Notably, Alternaria spp. exhibited the highest frequency and widest distribution among them, making it the most prevalent fungus throughout all citrus-growing regions of Kerman province. N. mangiferae was the second most frequently isolated fungus. Pathogenicity tests were performed by artificially inoculating two-year-old lemon trees under controlled conditions. All fungal genera except Chaetomium sp. and Cladosporium spp. were virulent. N. mangiferae was the most virulent fungus and caused the most severe cankers six weeks after inoculation. It also had the greatest discoloration compared to other fungi in these tests

The future generation technology needs network expansion, large bandwidth capacity, and modern application development. Due to dielectric in nature, having electromagnetic immunity, having larger bandwidth, and being a lightweight cable, the demand for optical fiber has grown expeditiously. ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) hampers the performance of optical communication drastically. It induces a superabundant increment in pulse duration, rolling out in time and space engrossed by the pulse as it propagates. As the pulse propagate along the optical fiber, this spread can be so enormous that a photo detector can no longer discriminate boundaries between pulses. Due to ISI, path loss increases rapidly and causes broadening of pulses and achieving high data rates becomes difficult. To reduce the effect of ISI pulse shaping technique is used. In this paper the channeling performance of optical fiber and DCF is estimated by using different pulse generator. Here we collated the performance of APD photo diode and PIN photo diode value in terms of Q-Factor and Bit Error Rate in the eye diagram. We have used a DCF to mitigate the effect of dispersion produced in the channel.

Management of foot rot of citrus (Citrus jambhiri spp.) using biocontrol agents

Citrus holds an important place in promoting the horticultural wealth and economy of India. Foot rot caused by Phytophthora spp. is a widespread problem of the citrus nursery. Citrus jambhiri, a widely used rootstock in nursery production, is found susceptible to the Phytophthora spp. Hence, the present study was carried out to evaluate antagonistic activity of Trichoderma spp. isolates against Phytophthora nicotianae var. parasitica causing foot rot in C. jambhiri under lab and net-house conditions. Seven isolates (parent and mutant) of Trichoderma spp. were tested in vitro. Amongst them, T20 mutant (Trichoderma asperellum) exhibited maximum mycoparasitism, volatile activity and non-volatile activity, i.e. 83.70%, 79.26% and 84.81%, respectively. The same T20 mutant (T. Asperellum) also showed maximum glucanase activity, i.e. 1.98 unit/ml. Further, talc-based bio formulations of T. asperellum T20 isolate (parent and mutant) were tested under net-house conditions over a period of two years (2016–2017 and 2017–2018) at the research farm of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab. Amongst all the treatments, the application of T20 mutant (T. asperellum) (seed + soil 15 g) had minimum disease incidence (13.33%), maximum disease control (83.30%) and maximum growth promotion i.e. shoot length (37.67 cm) and root length (30.67 cm). Based on our findings, T. asperellum T20 mutant strain used as seed + soil treatment was able to effectively manage the foot rot, in C. jambhiri nursery under net-house conditions and also promoted the plant growth.
