“…other findings offers that NFκB and AP-1 can inhibit the production of MMP9 and proinflammatory cytokine. 28,29 Our finding indirectly showed that NFκB might act a synergistic role in M-CSF-MAPK-AP-1-related RAW 264.7 to M2 macrophages transformation. The co-immunoprecipitation experiments observed that c-Jun interacted with p50 NFκB in the presence of rM-CSF.…”

“…Following this pharmaceutical hit with emodin, studies about anthraquinones were expanded with the addition of bromo (brominated anthraquinones exist in some marine fungal biomasses), nitro, amino or bromoacetamido groups, and many compounds were also active ( Table 3 ). Citreorosein (ω-hydroxyemodin) demonstrated similar kinase-inhibiting properties [ 219 ], and this kinase inhibiting action of anthraquinones was further linked to an anti-hypertensive potential as therapeutic agents [ 220 ]. Thereby, it would be very interesting to investigate the properties of the very large list of natural anthraquinones (over 100 compounds) produced by marine and marine-derived fungi, gathered for the first time in this review ( Table 2 ).…”

“…Chrysophanol can inhibit the growth of HeLa cervical cancer cells ( Trybus et al, 2021 ). Citreorosein suppresses the gene expression of proinflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1β, in mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMCs) stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) plus the calcium ionophore A23187 ( Lu et al, 2012 ). Questinol can significantly inhibit NO production at the indicated concentrations and has also been found to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α and IL-1β ( Yang X. et al, 2014 ), while CG at low concentrations (12 and 24 μM) significantly increase L-02 cell viability ( Liu et al, 2018 ).…”
