Cities of the future—bionic systems of new urban environment

Abstract: The concepts of the cities we know nowadays, and which we are accustomed to, change at a very rapid pace. The philosophy of their design is also changing. It will base on new standards, entering a completely different, futuristic dimension. This stage is related to changes in the perception of space, location and lack of belonging to definite, national or cultural structures. Cities of the future are cities primarily intelligent, zero-energetic, zero-waste, environmentally sustainable, self-sufficient in terms… Show more

“…Resources from all over the biosphere are described as being, "funneled" into the world's cities to meet the expanding consumption, driven by hastening globalization, urbanization, and affluence (Girardet, 2000;Krzeminska et al, 2017). A commonly cited metric illustrating the associated imbalance and exploitation is that cities occupy just two per cent of the earth's land surface, yet use over 75 per cent of its resources and discharge corresponding proportions of waste (Girardet, 2000).…”

“…Cities provide, almost irrespective of geography, location, culture, and history, etc, a characteristic "template" of environmental and social problems [8]. As such, cities become vectors for the cognition and design rhetoric of aspiration and solution seeking (aka "eco/solar/smart-city", "green-urbanism", "bionic", or similarly with water as a focus, "spaceship") [8,94,95].…”

“…As such, cities become vectors for the cognition and design rhetoric of aspiration and solution seeking (aka "eco/solar/smart-city", "green-urbanism", "bionic", or similarly with water as a focus, "spaceship") [8,94,95]. Within such futuristic and envisioning design paradigms, future cities are seen offering the disruptive new formations of social-political ecology and as providing living laboratories of, for example: innovative and transformative governance/management, smart technologies/infrastructure (i.e., ICT enabled internet of things-inc. in respect of waste [96]) to foster zero-energetic, zero-waste, environmentally sustainable self-sufficient food security, and symbiotic industrial ecologies [8,94,97,98].…”

“…Urban areas are an extremely important subject of scientific research [1] and a forum for implementing new policies. This is due to the fact that more than half of the world's population already lives in cities [2,3]. Therefore, cities are currently undergoing changes to meet as many of the demands of a constantly growing number of inhabitants as possible [4].…”

“…The platform uses artificial intelligence to help with the entire rental process. In particular, a specially created assistant: (1) helps to search and compare offers, (2) sends notifications that match the client's expectations, (3) arranges meetings with the owner, (4) enables the negotiation of lease terms through the Messenger application.…”
