Circulating and tissue microRNAs as a potential diagnostic biomarker in patients with thrombotic events

Abstract: Venous and arterial thrombosis are conditions that have a considerable burden if left untreated. The hypoxia-induced by the occluded vessel can disrupt the circulation of any organ, the cornerstone of treating thrombosis is rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Diagnosis of thrombosis may be made by using laboratory tests or imaging How to cite this article: Jafarzadeh-Esfehani R, Mostafa Parizadeh S, Sabeti Aghabozorgi A, et al. “…A large number of studies have investigated the diagnosis and treatment of DVT. Specific advances include the combination of ultrasound, D-dimer, and clinical evaluation for thrombosis diagnosis [ 13 , 14 ]; the use of small RNA molecules as new diagnostic markers [ 15 , 16 ],; and the combination therapy and standard treatment with anticoagulation and antithrombotic drugs [ 7 , 9 ]. In comparison to the large strides that have been made in the treatment of thrombosis, efforts to increase early prediction and prevention of DVT—which are arguably more effective and more efficient—have been minimal.…”

“…In recent years, microRNAs (miRNAs) have attracted more and more attention from many scientists, especially their roles in various diseases. [10][11][12] miRNAs are a class of endogenous, small, highly conserved non-coding molecule RNAs with a length of about 19-23 nucleotides. 13,14 The aberrant expression of miRNAs is involved in various cellular processes, such as differentiation, proliferation, metastasis, invasion, and apoptosis.…”

“…Thrombosis leads to numerous diseases, and can be a heavy burden if left untreated. Therefore, the cornerstones of therapeutic strategies for thrombosis are rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment (Jafarzadeh-Esfehani, 2020).…”
