Circularly polarized defected ground stub‐matched triple‐band microstrip antenna for C‐ and X‐band applications

Abstract: This article embodies the design and analysis of a novel triple‐band single‐fed circularly polarized (CP) antenna for C‐ and X‐band applications. The proposed antenna covers downlink frequency of C band (3.7‐4.2 GHz) and X band (7.25‐7.3 GHz) for satellite applications. The antenna radiator comprises of F‐shape radiating patch with 50 Ω microstrip feed line. The square strips, slit, and rectangular stub/perturbation are used on the ground plane for achieving the three CP bands. The proposed antenna has −10 dB … Show more

“…However, as revealed in Table 2 , the trade-off factors (IBW/size) and (ARBW/size) with values of 3.43 and 3.09, respectively, are still relatively low because the bands of the proposed antenna are centred at a high frequency of 5.15 GHz. The technical specification and working principle of this antenna have been studied widely in the literature [ 92 , 93 , 94 , 95 ]. Recently, two research works proposed slot antennas with different structural geometries based on radiator patch and ground plane shapes.…”

“…Different patch shapes of antenna like C shape, split ring, parasitic patches, and strips are reported to obtain circular polarization [14][15][16][17]. Antennas with dual bands [18,19], triple bands [20][21][22][23], and multibands [24][25][26] are reported for different applications. Circularly polarized antenna is useful for lowering the multipath interferences, polarization loss, and limited bandwidth.…”

“…An antenna radiator using F-shape radiated patch that is fed by a microstrip line is designed. Using the square strips and rectangular stub that is positioned in the ground achieved three bands with circular polarization-this covered frequency of the C band and X band destined for satellite applications [11]. A quad-band antenna is presented for sub 6 GHz-5 G applications [12].…”
