Circular RNA hsa_circ_0000326 acts as a miR-338-3p sponge to facilitate lung adenocarcinoma progression

Abstract: Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a novel class of noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression at the transcriptional or posttranscriptional level. According to recent studies, circRNAs are involved in the pathogenesis of cancer, but the roles of circRNAs in lung adenocarcinoma are largely unknown. Methods: In this study, we identified a novel upregulated circRNA, hsa_circ_0000326, in human lung adenocarcinoma tissues using microarray analysis and qRT-PCR. We then explored the biological role of hsa_ci… Show more

“…CircRNAs are transcripts that are closed covalently and are resistant to exoribonuclease degradation, which are usually more stable than linear transcripts [5]. Aberrant circRNA expression has been discovered in many kinds of cancers such as breast [6], colorectal [7], gastric [8], and lung [9]. For prostate cancer, studies show that circLMTK2 acts as tumor suppressor in PCa through regulating microRNA-183 expression [10].…”

“…Long noncoding RNA RMRP sponged miR-1-3p to promote NSCLC cell proliferation and invasion [49]. Moreover, miR-126-5p, miR-486-5p, miR-338-3p, miR-126-3p and miR-145-5p have all be shown to block the progression of lung cancer [50][51][52][53].…”
