Circular RNA circ‑ACACA regulates proliferation, migration and glycolysis in non‑small‑cell lungcarcinoma via miR‑1183 and PI3K/PKB pathway

Abstract: Non-small cell lung carcinoma (NScLc) accounts for 85% of all lung cancers and the five-year survival rate is ~1% in the late stage. circular RNAs (circRNAs) were reported to be involved in the progression of diverse human cancers. However, the role of circ-ACACA in NSCLC progression remains elusive. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction was conducted to detect the expression levels of circ-ACACA and microRNA (miR)-1183 in NScLc tissues and cells. A Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and transwell assay were employed … Show more

“…For example, miR-1183 was disclosed to suppress the proliferation and migration of NSCLC cells. 18 Gao et al revealed miR-3607-3p promoted cell cycle arrest in NSCLC. 19 MiR-206, a small RNA, was also indicated to suppress the proliferation and invasion of NSCLC.…”

“…Hong et al found that circSLC25A16 accelerated glycolysis and promoted NSCLC proliferation by interacting with miR-488-3p and enhancing HIF-1α expression, which transcriptionally activated lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) ( 99 ). A study by Wu et al indicated that circ-ACACA promoted in vitro NSCLC proliferation, migration and glycolysis by negatively regulating miR-1183 to activate the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/PKB) pathway ( 100 ). Huang et al observed that circ_0000735 overexpression enhanced NSCLC proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis by targeting the miR-940/bone morphogenetic protein binding endothelial cell precursor-derived regulator (BMPER, a secreted glycoprotein) axis ( 101 ).…”

“…Geng et al also reported that the AUC of circ-MTHFD2 was 0.701, with a cut-off value of 3.534, and 90% sensitivity and 71% specificity ( 197 ). The diagnostic accuracy of circ-ACACA was assessed using ROC curve analysis, and showed that the AUC was 0.7822 ( 100 ). Li et al observed that hsa_circ_ 0000729 was upregulated in LUAD tissue and sponged miR‐375, both of which had significant diagnostic accuracy, with AUC values of 0.815 and 0.772, respectively ( 198 ).…”

“…Circ-ACACA regulates the PI3K/PKB signaling pathway in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells by interacting with MIR-1183, and suppresses protein expression levels of c-Myc, MMP9 , and GLUT-1 genes in tumor cells, thereby promoting glycolysis. 83 …”
