Circular Photonic Crystal Fibers: Numerical Analysis of Chromatic Dispersion and Losses

Abstract: Detailed numerical analysis for dispersion properties and losses has been carried out for a new type of Photonic crystal fiber where the air-holes are arranged in a circular pattern with a silica matrix called as Circular Photonic Crystal Fiber (C-PCF). The dependence of different PCF geometrical parameters namely different circular spacings, air-hole diameter and numbers of air-hole rings are carried out in detail towards practical applications. Our numerical analysis establishes that total dispersion is stro… Show more

“…4, showing chromatic dispersion and wavelengths along Y and X axes, respectively. 21 The results of simulation confirm that the proposed O-PM-RDCF design has a higher amplitude of negative flattened dispersion than those of all previously reported designs in Refs. 4 due to very lower NFD T than the proposed O-PM-RDCF design.…”

“…Generally, a true residual dispersion compensating fiber (RDCF) should have ultraflattened negative chromatic dispersion (UNCD) for all wavelengths within a band for both X and Y polarized modes. In Fig.4 [4]. An oscillation comes between the characteristics of dispersion depending on the value of the parameters and when the bandwidth of the particular characteristics of dispersion is significantly wide [4,13].…”

“…In Fig.4 [4]. An oscillation comes between the characteristics of dispersion depending on the value of the parameters and when the bandwidth of the particular characteristics of dispersion is significantly wide [4,13]. Compared to other previous designs [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13], only the proposed RDCF design performs negative ultra-flattened dispersion with the variation of only 4 and 5 ps/nm/km for the fundamental (Y and X) polarized modes.…”

“…Researchers investigated several PCF structures based on the geometry of its core. Extant studies investigated PCF structure with dual core , rectangular core , square core , circular core , Octagonal core , T‐shaped core , and P‐shaped core . Even a quad‐core PCF structure was recently examined .…”
