Circular dichroism and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopic monitoring of production of chiral silver nanoparticles templated by guanosine 5′-monophosphate

Abstract: Herein we report the chemical reduction of silver ions incorporated into chiral supramolecular nanostructures by NaBH(4) in buffered (basic) and unbuffered conditions. In situ self-assembly of guanosine 5'-monophosphate (5'-GMP) templated by Ag(I) and generation of silver nanoparticles (NPs) were continuously monitored by CD and UV-Vis spectroscopy measurements. 5'-GMP has been identified as an efficient chiral organic ligand to complex silver ions into a hierarchical helical nanostructure and is a useful capp… Show more

“…Carboxyl-and amine-modified The molecular recognition properties of small organic molecules and their inorganic-organic hierarchical self-assembly via ion coordination can be exploited to control the synthesis of colloids at the nanoscale level [259,260]. Chiral silver NPs with a diameter of less than 20 nm were produced using a 5-GMP template [261,262], where 5-GMP was shown to be an efficient chiral organic ligand that allows silver ions to assemble into a hierarchical helical nanostructure as well as a useful capping agent to stabilize silver NPs (Fig.…”

“…A crystal structure of an inherent chiral gold cluster was published recently [13,14]. Chirality resulting from ligands shell can be obtained in systems either of welldefined composition with diameter close to or below 2 nm [15,16] or with larger nanoparticles diameter and broader size distribution of nanoparticles [17,18]. Optical activity of such systems is mostly demonstrated on gold or silver NP modified by thiol ligands [19,20].…”

“…We have successfully constructedl uminescent MOF-74 analogues (MOF = metal-organicf ramework) by precised esign and assembly. [13c] Based on the study of nucleotide-metalc omplexes, [14][15][16][17] the diversities of coordination and supramolecular self-assembly inspired us to design and investigate the functionalc oordination complexesb yt aking advantage of biocompatibility with the nucleotide, environmental friendliness, and chirality,w hich make them applicable in biomimetic, medical, chiral,a nd environmentally friendly materials. In this work, six kinds of 1D coordination polymers of cytidine-5'-monophosphate (CMP) and 2'-deoxycytidine-5'monophosphate (dCMP) with transition metals (Scheme 1), (6) [bpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene, azpy = 4,4'-azopyridine, bpa = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane, 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine] were designed and studied (Table S1 in the Supporting Information).…”
