Making transport systems sustainable is a topic that has attracted the attention of many researchers and urban planners. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Smart Cities Network (ASCN) was initiated to develop a sustainable transport system in the ASEAN countries. A comprehensive understanding of street networks (SNs) can contribute significantly to the achievement of this initiative. Therefore, this paper measured and compared characteristics of drivable street networks (DSNs) and walkable street networks (WSNs) of the 26 ASCN pilot cities by applying multiple network metrics. The OSMnx tool was used to download and analyse WSNs and DSNs from the OpenStreetMap. The findings present the topological and geometric characteristics of WSNs and DSNs that are diverse and characterized by different factors. The cities with orthogonal street grids, high street density, intersection density, and fewer cul-de-sacs have good accessibility to reach destinations. In contrast, some other cities have more curvilinear and circuitous SNs with many missing links to other streets, which in turn are prone to traffic disruption. The study highlights the important features of SNs that have significant implications for future designs of SNs in the ASCN whose goal is to make cities smart and liveable for ASEAN members.

As the primary research vehicle, rural tourism is used in this paper to examine urban visitors’ “homesickness.” This research explores the effects of homesickness on tourists’ perceptions of travel destinations and consumption intentions through qualitative analysis, logistic empirical analysis, and questionnaire survey. This work also explores the behavioral traits of customers’ purchase intentions from the perspective of a “big data” environment, and it constructs the relevant consumption behavior model for rural visitors in accordance with those behavioral traits. Through questionnaire design and investigation, this paper makes statistical analysis on tourists’ basic information, expected value, and actual experience and explores the related factors that affect their consumption behavior, so as to understand the consumption behavior law of tourists in rural tourism consumption. The research shows that the MSE (mean squared error) of this algorithm is about 4.16, and the RMSE (root mean square error) of this algorithm is about 0.508. Finally, combining the influence of tourists’ consumption behavior, this paper tries to put forward some countermeasures and suggestions on rural tourism. This paper aims to study the development and planning of rural tourist destinations, and provide corresponding basis for the destination selection of tourists with homesickness.

Sustainable humanitarian supply chain (SHSC) management enables effective and efficient responses to natural and human-made disasters. Existing literature falls short of offering decision support (DS) models to address the barriers and strategies to designing SHSC. To this end, this study develops a DS model that identifies and prioritizes the barriers to SHSC and determines optimal strategies for mitigating those barriers. This study adopted both qualitative and quantitative approaches. As part of the qualitative approach, a field study was applied using in-depth interviews to determine the barriers and corresponding strategies, while under the quantitative approach, a quality function deployment (QFD) integrated optimization technique was used to prioritize barriers and determine optimal strategies to mitigate the SHSC barriers. The study found that a lack of contingency planning, the prevalence of corruption and political interference, and a lack of social and environmental awareness are the most important barriers, while logistics outsourcing, supply chain (SC) performance management, and SC flexibility are the most essential strategies. We also found that our DS model is highly flexible and can be adapted under different scenarios, which makes the model applicable to different contexts. This study has a significant contribution to literature and practice. We developed a novel decision model that captured cost savings and leveraged both cost and time savings from interrelated strategies to determine the best optimal strategy while applying QFD-integrated optimization modeling. The paper’s findings will assist humanitarian SC managers in designing an effective, efficient, and sustainable humanitarian SC.
