Chrysoeriol suppresses hyperproliferation of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes and inhibits JAK2/STAT3 signaling

Abstract: Background Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) have cancer cell-like characteristics, such as abnormal proliferation and resistance to apoptosis, and play a pathogenic role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Hyperproliferation of RA-FLS that can be triggered by the activation of interleukin-6/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (IL-6/STAT3) signaling destructs cartilage and bone in RA patients. Chrysoeriol is a flavone found in medicinal herbs such as Chrysanthemi Indici Flos (the drie… Show more

“…23 In addition, CSR retards Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/STAT3 signaling and suppresses hyperproliferation of rheumatoid arthritis fibroblast-like synoviocytes. 24 Besides, CSR down-regulates to improve OVA-induced asthma. 31 Furthermore, M2 macrophage-derived exosomal miR-370 suppresses the fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1)/MAPK/STAT1 axis to control progression of asthma.…”

“…The medicinal effects of Chry affect the central nervous system, and it is used as an insomnia treatment [ 14 ], anticonvulsant, and sedative [ 15 ]. It is also reported to have various medicinal properties, such as antioxidant [ 16 , 17 ], anti-arthritic [ 18 ], and anti-inflammatory [ 19 ] properties. The medicinal effect of Chry is attributed to its significant flavonoids as its main active ingredients, among which linarin is the main flavone [ 20 , 21 ].…”
