Studies therefore indicate a higher frequency of emotional and relational difficulties in these adolescents (Cobham et al, 2020;Kim et al, 2020;Nabors, 2020), but these results deserve to be discussed, since some studies showed that the adjustment to the disease could also be more related to personal and family variables than to the disease itself (Lohan et al, 2015). Therefore, having a CD is considered a relevant factor in adjustment in adolescence, but other risk and protective factors must also be taken into account to achieve a greater understanding of adjustment (Stanton and Revenson, 2007), such as self-esteem, social support or emotional skills.…”
