Chronic hypoxia increases fetoplacental vascular resistance in rat placenta perfused with blood

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Chronic hypoxia elevates vascular resistance on the fetal side of the placenta. However, when a low-viscosity perfusate is used, the increase in resistance caused by chronic hypoxia is relatively small (12 mmHg).
