“…Acne necrotica is an inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology centered on the hair follicle that results in necrosis of the follicular epithelium and adjacent skin. It is also known as necrotizing lymphocytic folliculitis because of the histopathological findings of early lesions [1]. It represents approximately 1% of all biopsies of cicatricial alopecias [2].…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Acne necrotica is a clinically diverse disorder in which recurring crops of pruritic, painful or tender follicular papulonodules proceed through a number of clinico‐pathological stages before resolution, with varying degrees of scarring. Pathologically early lesions are characterised by a necrotising lymphocytic folliculitis .…”

“…It is characterized by recurrent crops of tender papules and papulonodules, which rapidly necrotize to leave behind superficial varioliform scars of variable degrees. The lesions are generally limited to nose, forehead, and anterior scalp, although anterior chest and interscapular areas can also be involved in severe cases [3,4]. It has been proposed that acne necrotica varioliformis represents acquired sensitivity to staphylococcal toxin, with the subsequent formation of necrotic plugs and scars, but recent work in this field is lacking [5].…”
