Eremopyrum (tribe Triticeae) is revised and 4 species are recognized: E. triticeum (2n = 14), E. orientale (2n = 28), E. distans (2n = 14) and E. bonaepartis (2n = 14.28). A key and maps showing the distribution of the species are presented. The relationships within Eremopyrum, including the origin of the tetraploids, and the relationships between Eremopyrum and other genera of the Triticeae are discussed.

Native to central Eurasia, this species is naturalized in other temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. In North America it is most abundant in Canada's prairie provinces, but has spread west and north to British Columbia, Alaska, Yukon and the Northwest Territories, and to scattered locations in eastern Canada and the northern United States. It is typically a summer annual weed of disturbed soils. Its growth habit and persistence in the seed bank have enabled it to spread as an adventive and to maintain its presence in cultivated areas. While it is present in relatively low frequency as a weed in most crops, its indehiscent seed pods can contaminate harvested crops and spread in seed commodities. The small size of its seed pods and the similarity of its seeds to those of canola and condiment mustard have led to its regulation as a significant contaminant of commercial seed. It is generally well controlled by herbicides (e.g., sulfonylureas, glyphosate, MCPA, bromoxynil, and 2, 4-D); however, a population resistant to metsulfuron-methyl, one of the Group 2 herbicides that inhibit acetolactate synthase (ALS), was found at a site in Alberta in 1998. Les auteurs ont passé en revue les données existantes sur la biologie de Neslia paniculata. Indigène dans le centre de l'Eurasie, cette espèce s'est acclimatée à diverses régions tempérées de l'hémisphère Nord. En Amérique, on la retrouve surtout dans les provinces des Prairies canadiennes, mais son aire s'est élargie vers l'ouest et le nord jusqu'en ColombieBritannique, en Alaska, au Yukon et dans les Territoires-du-Nord-Ouest, ainsi qu'à certains endroits de l'est du Canada et du nord des États-Unis. Cette adventice annuelle envahit habituellement les terrains perturbés l'été. Son type de développement et sa persistance dans le réservoir de semences expliquent pourquoi elle a réussi à devenir une adventice et à s'implanter dans les zones cultivées. Bien que relativement peu abondante dans la majorité des cultures, la neslie paniculée contamine parfois les produits de la récolte à cause de ses gousses indéhiscentes et pourrait se propager avec les semences des cultures grainières. Ses petites gousses et la ressemblance de ses semences avec celles du canola et de la moutarde ont nécessité sa réglementation comme important contaminant des semences commerciales.
