Choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents for efficient cycloaddition of CO2 with propylene oxide

Abstract: Choline chloride-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) exhibited remarkable activity in the cycloaddition of CO2 with propylene oxide (PO) in the absence of any additives under solvent- and metal-free conditions as well as recyclability.

“…The C 2 H 5 NO/3 p ‐TsOH demonstrated a remarkable desulfurization activity. In agreement with our previous work, there is a correlation between the composition and chemical properties , , , , . Finally, the C 2 H 5 NO/3 p ‐TsOH system demonstrating the best oxidation desulfurization activity was chosen for further research.…”

“…The polarization of the CÀ O bond promoted by the carboxylic acid groups on the biochar's surface is key to accelerating the epoxide ring-opening performed by the co-catalytic nucelophile. [26][27][28][29][30][31][32]…”

“…Treatment of biochar and carbon‐based materials with nitric acid (HNO 3 ) is known to greatly increase the content of oxygenated groups on their surface, introducing more hydroxyl and carboxyl groups. These functional groups are important structural motifs in catalysts for the reaction chosen herein . However, the use of oxidized biochar to remove pollutants is the only application studied to date .…”
