Cholelithiasis

Abstract: The incidence of complications in patients with symptomatic gallstone disease is about 1% per year. The most frequent complication is acute cholecystitis. Less frequent complications are acute cholangitis, biliary pancreatitis, Mirizzi syndrome and gallstone ileus. This article reviews the current knowledge of the diagnosis and therapy of these complications including the recommendations of consensus conferences.
