Chloride Resistance of Concrete with Marine Blended Cement Using Corrosion Resistant Mineral Admixture

Abstract: In this study, the chloride resistant properties of concrete with MBC (marine blended cement) were evaluated by an accelerated corrosion test of reinforced concrete. The half-cell potential measurements indicated that the chloride resistance of MBC concrete is approximately 32% larger than that of TBC (ternary blended cement) concrete. As for the reinforcement corrosion area, while the TBC specimens exhibited 5.32-6.11% corrosion at the final 40th cycle, the MBC specimens did not show any sign of steel corrosi… Show more

“…At the present time, the technology of recycled concrete is one of the most effective ways of dealing with the recycling of waste concrete [2]. As a major cause of deterioration of the durability performance of concrete structures, chloride ions (Cl -) [3], when the Clcontent superficial the reinforcement reaches a critical value, the passivation film on the surface will be damaged, which will lead to corrosion and degradation of the force performance of the reinforcement [4], and the complex source of recycled aggregate composition, macroscopic tests produce greater dispersion, the progress of computer technology and numerical simulations can both reduce this error and intuitively visualize the diffusion behavior of Clinto the concrete, linking the fine structure to the macroscopic properties. In recent years, scholars at home and abroad have viewed recycled concrete as a five-phase composite at the fine level.…”

“…Traditional research of the transmission of chloride ions in concrete considers only the diffusion effect, induces the analytical solution of chloride concentration based on the partial differential equation of the Fick's second law [13][14][15][16][17], and modifies the equations according to the service environment [18][19][20]. Since the transmission mechanism of chloride ion is complex and the parameters for the partial differential equation are a lot, there is no accepted and precise analytical formula for chloride concentration.…”
