Chirality–Racemization Strategy Toward Copper (I) Iodide Hybrid Single‐Crystalline Scintillators for X‐Ray Detection and Imaging Applications

Abstract: Organic–inorganic hybrid copper(I)‐based halides have attracted great interest in the field of optoelectronics due to their low cost, non‐toxicity, large Stokes shift, and high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs). Here, bulk zero‐dimensional (0D) organic‐inorganic hybrid copper(I)‐based (R,S‐2‐mpip)2Cu2I6 (mpip = methylpiperazinium, C5H14N22+) single crystals have been grown with equal stoichiometric ratios of R‐ and S‐2‐mpip ligands by chirality–racemization strategy for the first time. Interestingly, (R… Show more

“…Considering the similarity of PL and RL profiles, the same emission origin for both processes can again be proposed. To prove the feasibility of X-ray scintillating applications, [53][54][55] the radioluminescence (RL) properties of the SS-1 and RR-1 single crystals have been systematically investigated. As shown in Figure 7a, the X-ray attenuation ratio of SS-1 single crystals was calculated as a function of photon energy, showing different degrees of attenuation for different photon energies.…”

“…4d). 5,22,23,[52][53][54][55] To demonstrate the practical application of the as-obtained HMH G-Cs as scintillators in X-ray imaging, we compared the spatial resolution of (BTP) 2 MnBr 4 G-C to that of glass samples. The (BTP) 2 MnBr 4 G-C exhibited excellent spatial resolution (14.25 lp mm −1 ), surpassing obviously that of the (BTP) 2 MnBr 4 glass (9.25 lp mm −1 ) due to the outstanding transmittance and high light yield (Fig.…”

“…R / S -2-mpip[SnBr 3 ]Br single crystals were produced after natural cooling and crystallization for 1 day, followed by washing and drying, as seen in Figure a,b. Furthermore, according to the previously reported chirality–racemization strategy . After properly mixing in a 1:1 ratio, R -2-mpip and S -2-mpip similarly reacted with SnO in HBr before being heated to 80 °C until completely dissolved.…”
