Chirality in gold(III) homodimeric complexes

Abstract: Numerous stable and reactive gold(III) complexes have been described; 1 however, most of them do not present efficient chirality because of their square-planar structure. Recently, the successful introduction of chirality (Fig. 1) has been achieved by two main strategies: the use of chiral BINOL 2 or O,O'-chelated cyclometalated gold(III) complexes 3 (Wong) and the use NHC ligands 4 (Toste). Other complexes, based on bisoxazoline (BOX) and 2-pyridyl-(-) menthol ligands 5 (Fiksdahl) or isothioureas 6 have also … Show more

“…In 2020, Uriac studied the coordination of the ligand chiral dihydro‐2 H ‐pyrrole 69 in the presence of gold(III) salts. In chloroform with AuCl 3 or in methanol with NaAuCl 4 , the pyrrole gold(III) trichloride complex 70 ( N ‐coordination), or the vinylgold(III) trichloride complex 71 ( C ‐coordination) were respectively made with 49 % and 38 % yields (Scheme 16, top) [45] . Complex 71 reacts further with an excess of gold(III) trichloride to form the aurocycle 72 with 26 % yield.…”
