Chiral spin symmetry and the QCD phase diagram

Abstract: Lattice QCD simulations with chirally symmetric quarks have recently established approximate SU (2)CS and SU (2NF ) symmetries of the quantum effective action in a temperature range above the chiral crossover T ch , in which color-electric interactions between quarks dominate the dynamics. We show that such an intermediate temperature range between the chirally broken and plasma regimes is fully consistent with published screening mass spectra, which demonstrate the breakdown of thermal perturbation theory at … Show more

“…In ref. [63] it was discussed how this chiral spin symmetric band smoothly extends to finite baryon density, where it may connect to quarkyonic matter in the cold and dense regime [64,65], which is expected to contain chirally symmetric (parity-doubled) baryons. In this context, it would be most interesting to extend the present study to lattice correlators evaluated at imaginary baryon chemical potential, which can be computed without a sign problem, and understand the influence of small baryon densities on the spectral functions.…”

“…Chiral spin symmetry has been recently shown to emerge in a temperature range of T /T ch = 2 − 3 with chiral crossover temperature T ch [31], in which the new symmetry manifests itself in the nucleon parity doublet. Its phenomenological consequences via parity doubling will be explored in the domain of dense QCD.…”

“…Is there an emergent chiral spin symmetry at large µ B ? One can speculate whether the extended SU (2) CS × SU (4) for N f = 2 (u, d) quarks which is likely to emerge at small µ B beyond T pc χ [18] is also present at large µ B [34]. In Ref.…”
