Chiral separations by CE employing CDs

Abstract: This paper summarizes the history of chiral separations done by using electromigration methods with CDs. Several enantioresolution mechanisms and a wide number of chiral selectors have been applied to the separation of optical isomers by CE. Among them inclusion-complexation with CDs or their derivatives played a very important role in CE. Since the beginning our group was involved in studying method optimization for enantiomer resolution by using these chiral selectors. One of our publications was the basis f… Show more

“…Several reviews regarding chiral CE have appeared recently [9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. Enantioseparation can be achieved by adding many kinds of chiral selectors such as copper amino acid complexes [16], antibiotics [17,18] [19,20].…”

“…Based on the number of publications, CDs are by far the most often applied chiral selectors in CE as summarized recently in several reviews [34][35][36][37][38] and book chapters [39,40]. This is due to advantages such as UV transparency as well as the fact that many derivatives are commercially available and that they can be used in aqueous and nonaqueous background electrolytes.…”

“…low signal-tonoise ratio and data-sampling rate. In CE, the cyclodextrins (CDs) and their derivatives are undoubtedly the favourites as chiral selectors [31][32][33]. In this work, highly sulphated b-CD (HS-b-CD) is the chiral selector of choice; however, it has its problems which will be discussed later.…”
