Chiral Orchestration: A Tool for Fishing Out Tripeptide-Based Mechanoresponsive Supergelators Possessing Anti-Inflammatory and Antimicrobial Properties

Abstract: Deciphering the most promising strategy for the evolution of microbial infection and inflammation-based therapeutics is one of the most challenging affairs to date. Development of peptide-based smart supergelators with innate antimicrobial and antiinflammatory activities is an appealing way out.

“…To validate the biological evaluation results of the Compounds we performed DFT studies where we calculated three parameters: a) Log P values (that gives a measure of the extent of hydrophobicity); b) HOMO/LUMO difference and c) the zero‐point vibrational energy of the Compounds I–IX ( Figure 6, Table 2). [37–40] The energy minimized structures of the Compounds are presented in Figure 6.…”

“…Aligned to the context, Konar et al fabricated a series of tripeptide gelators (T 3 P16, T 3 P17, T 3 P18 and T 3 P19) by fine tuning the configuration of the building amino acid Phe to investigate the tendency of this construct in rigidifying the solvent system ( Figure 11 ) [ 118 ]. The gelators form a supramolecular hydrogel with thixotropic and injectable properties, as can be seen in Figure 11 B.…”

“…As evident from Table 1, the differences in free energy and other properties were comparable, which could be the reason for same MGCs for both the hydrogelators. 42 Hydrogelators possesses b-sheet conformation and filamentous fibrillar morphology Next, we explored the self-assembly behavior of the hydrogelators using different spectroscopic approaches. In this perspective, our first attempt was to decipher the presence of H-bonding in the conformation with the help of variable temperature dependent NMR spectroscopy (VT-NMR) (Fig.…”
